Based on Enterprise Singapore's official EDGE Grant pages, checked October 2026. Grant rules are new and may change, so always check the official pages linked below.
Quick summary
- Who can apply: businesses registered and operating in Singapore with at least 30% Singaporean or PR ownership. Non-profits, societies and government-linked bodies are excluded.
- How to apply: pick the right EDGE activity, get a vendor quotation, then apply yourself on the Business Grants Portal (BGP) with Corppass before you pay or start anything.
- How you get paid: it is a reimbursement. Finish the project, pay your vendor in full, then submit one final claim on BGP.
- Most common reasons for rejection: work or a deposit started before applying, ownership below 30%, the vendor applying for you, a project that doesn't fit the activity, and missed claim deadlines.
- Rejected? Find out why, fix the root cause and reapply with a new, unstarted project. SME Centres can advise you for free.
Since PSG, EDG and MRA closed on 29 September 2026, most Singapore SMEs now apply for grant support through the EDGE Grant. (New to the change? Read Read PSG, EDG and MRA merged into EDGE: what changed first. first.) This guide covers the practical part: whether you qualify, the application steps from start to claim, the mistakes that get applications and claims rejected, and what to do if yours is rejected.
Who is eligible for the EDGE Grant?
To apply for the EDGE Grant, your business must be registered and operating in Singapore and have at least 30% local shareholding (held by Singapore Citizens or PRs, directly or indirectly). Non-profits, societies, religious entities, VWOs, statutory boards and government subsidiaries are not eligible. Each activity can add its own conditions, so always read the activity page too.
- SMEs and non-SMEs can both apply. An SME has group annual turnover of up to S$100 million or up to 200 employees. Non-SMEs get lower support rates.
- It must be a new project. You must not have started work, paid, or paid a deposit before you submit the application.
- You must still be eligible at claim stage. If your shareholding drops below 30% before you claim, the claim is not supported.
- Activity-specific rules apply. For example, the Digital Marketing activity also requires that you are not a home-based business and have not previously applied for grant support for the same solution.
- Past PSG, EDG or MRA users can apply for a new project, but not for the same project again.
Sole proprietorships are not explicitly addressed on the official pages we checked. If that is your structure, confirm with Enterprise Singapore or an SME Centre before you commit to a vendor.
How much EDGE Grant support can I get?
The EDGE Grant supports up to 50% of qualifying costs for SMEs and up to 30% for non-SMEs. Internationalisation and sustainability activities get up to 70% for SMEs and 50% for non-SMEs. Each company can receive up to S$100,000 per year across all activities, refreshed every 1 April.
| Item | SMEs | Non-SMEs |
|---|---|---|
| Base support | Up to 50% | Up to 30% |
| Internationalisation and sustainability | Up to 70% | Up to 50% |
| Yearly cap (all activities) | S$100,000 per company per year (1 April to 31 March). Within it, up to S$30,000 per year for digital solutions. | |
| Digital Marketing activity | Up to 50%, max S$5,000 (cost capped at S$10,000) | Up to 30%, max S$3,000 |
The approved amount is deducted from your yearly cap when the grant is approved. If a project is terminated with no claim, the amount goes back to that year's cap. GST is not supported.
How do I apply for the EDGE Grant? (Step by step)
Apply for the EDGE Grant on the Business Grants Portal using your company's Corppass, before you pay a vendor or start any work. After approval, you complete the project, pay in full, and submit one final claim on the same portal. The full process looks like this:
- Find the right activity. EDGE covers 8 business areas and over 150 activities. Use the EDGE Grant page or the BizSG grant recommender to find the activity that matches your project, then read that activity's page for its own conditions and caps.
- Prepare your documents. Typically a vendor quotation plus the supporting documents the activity asks for. For the Digital Marketing activity, you also need a projection of expected cost savings for one year after the project.
- Choose a vendor and get a quotation. For digital solutions, find a pre-approved vendor and solution on IMDA's SMEs Go Digital. The vendor must not be related to your company, its directors or shareholders.
- Build your package (digital solutions only). Build the package in the SMEs Go Digital Package Builder so it matches the quotation exactly, then generate the package reference ID with Corppass.
- Submit the application on the Business Grants Portal. Your own staff must submit it. Vendors and other third parties are not allowed to apply for you. One application per activity.
- Accept the Letter of Offer. It states the approved amount, deliverables, project end date and claim due date. For the Digital Marketing activity, the outcome usually comes in about 1 week.
- Complete the project and pay in full. Keep to the timeline in your Letter of Offer (up to 18 months for the Digital Marketing activity). Keep invoices, proof of payment and proof of the deliverables.
- Submit your claim on BGP. One single, final claim per project, by the claim due date. Claims open from 1 November 2026 for single-function digital solutions and from 1 December 2026 for other activities. For the Digital Marketing activity, payout takes about 14 working days by PayNow Corporate, or up to 8 weeks by GIRO, after claim approval.
Common reasons EDGE Grant applications are rejected
Most EDGE Grant rejections come from breaking a basic rule rather than a weak proposal: starting or paying before applying, falling short of the 30% local shareholding, letting a vendor apply on your behalf, or proposing a project that doesn't fit the chosen activity. Check each of these before you submit.
- Work or payment started before the application. Retrospective applications are not supported. Even a small deposit to the vendor before you submit can disqualify the project.
- Not enough local ownership. Less than 30% Singaporean or PR shareholding, or an excluded entity type such as a non-profit or society.
- A vendor or consultant applied for you. Third parties must not submit applications, change requests or claims for you, or pay on your behalf.
- The vendor is related to you. The vendor must have no relationship with your company, related companies, directors or common shareholders, and any relationship must be declared.
- The project doesn't fit the activity. Misaligned projects are not supported. Each activity supports specific costs only. For example, the Digital Marketing activity lists software costs (capped at 12 months) and excludes GST and maintenance.
- Activity-specific conditions are not met. For Digital Marketing, a home-based business, or a business that has already applied for grant support for the same solution, does not qualify.
- Documents don't match. For digital solutions, the package in the Package Builder must match the vendor's quotation exactly. Mismatched or incomplete documents slow down or derail the application.
Why EDGE claims get rejected after approval
Approval is not the end. Claims can still fail at the last step:
- Missing the claim due date. A claim cannot be submitted after the due date. You can request one extension, but only before it expires.
- Changing vendor after approval. Vendors cannot be changed. You must terminate the grant and reapply before paying a new vendor, or the claim may be rejected.
- Losing eligibility before claiming. For example, local shareholding falling below 30%.
- Deliverables or payment not complete. Claim only after the project is done and fully paid, with the proof the Letter of Offer asks for (for single-function digital solutions, a unique identifier such as a licence number or user ID).
- The solution used by another entity. Only the approved company may use it, not a subsidiary or related company.
My EDGE Grant application was rejected. What should I do?
If your EDGE Grant application is rejected, find out the reason on the Business Grants Portal, fix the root cause, and reapply with a new project that has not started and has not been paid for. A project that already started cannot be rescued, and SME Centres can advise you for free before you reapply.
- Read the reason. Check the outcome on BGP and match it against the list above.
- Fix the root cause. Pick a better-fitting activity, correct the documents, or rebuild the package so it matches the quotation exactly.
- Don't pay or start in the meantime. If the project already started, it cannot be supported. Plan a new project scope instead.
- Get free help. SME Centres advise businesses on government grants. Your vendor can also help prepare the quotation and documents, but it cannot submit for you.
- Reapply. Submit a new application on BGP once the issue is fixed.
Be careful with anyone charging an "application fee" to get you a grant. Enterprise Singapore has said there are no compulsory application fees, and paid grant application services are not endorsed by the government.
